Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a long term neurodegenerative disorder affecting over 10,000 people in HK, and more than 10 million people globally. Parkinson's disease has become the "third killer" among middle-aged and elderly people. People with Parkinson’s often suffer from tremor, rigidity and bradykinesia, which limits their mobility thus daily lives. About two-thirds of the patients have gait freezing phenomenon, causing frequent disturbances and greatly affecting their daily life. However, treatment methods now are either not very readily accessible to patients or could cause considerable side-effects. Our 1st product is a wearable device for Parkinson's Disease to overcome the “freezing of gait” symptom, which affects 26% of patients with mild Parkinson's disease and 80% with severe Parkinson's disease. At the same time, we are developing the next product - wearable robotic device for assisting functions of upper limbs. Our ultimate mission is to produce affordable, convenient, socially-inclusive wearable devices that can re-equip patients, disabled and elderly the power to live with active lifestyles, and therefore improve their quality of life.
