Personal Health Assistant (PHA) is a portable monitoring device for evaluating the cardiovascular health non-invasively. It can measure heart rate, heart rate variability, blood pressure as well as central blood pressure. It can also measure the arterial stiffness index (ASI) which provides an overview of the blood vessel health. Existing devices in the market usually require a skillful personnel to operate which limit the use in clinic, health check centre orhospital where medical staff are readily available. In contrary, the user-oriented design of the PHA breaks this limitation and allows user to monitor his/her cardiovascular health easily at home. Individuals can use PHA at home, and so do health providers at clinics or hospital. Through the cloud-based data analytics, preventive healthcare as well as post treatment follow-up and improvement can be achieved much more effectively and economically.
